About Me

I am an experienced AWS Engineer, specializing in cloud computing technologies, with an extensive background in AWS Gov Cloud. My professional journey has led me to work on contracts to provide cloud engineering services for various Departments of the U.S. Government. My expertise extends beyond AWS to include Linux, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and Azure.


My educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and I continually strive to deepen my knowledge and skills. I've completed a plethora of courses, labs, and certifications, including AWS DevOps Professional, AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS SysOps Administrator Associate, Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer, and HashiCorp Terraform Associate. My commitment to continuous learning is reflected in my pursuit of further certifications in areas such as AWS Developer Associate, AWS DevOps Professional, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), and Microsoft Azure Administrator.


In my current role at RavenTek, I manage and maintain Enterprise cloud infrastructure, design and implement cloud solutions, troubleshoot issues, and administer RHEL OS for the DBA Team. My technical experience spans across planning and deploying cloud infrastructure, implementing decoupled cloud services, Linux OS administration, and more. Additionally, I run an independent business, JR3S Corporation, where I have deployed WordPress websites via Terraform/AWS and built development environments and CI/CD pipelines.


Beyond my technical proficiencies, my core goal is to solve challenging problems using innovative solutions, delivering unparalleled value for technology-based companies that value hard work, loyalty, and continuous improvement. My diverse experience in security, cloud computing, and development equips me with the unique ability to approach problems from multiple angles and find the best solutions.

Financial Systems Modernization Solution (FSMS) Deployment

Objective: Deployed production RHEL Servers to modernize financial systems.

Technologies & Tools: RHEL, STIG AMI image, EFS Filesystem, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, EC2, EBS, Cloudtrail, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, VPC.

Key Achievements:

  • Deployed production RHEL Servers using STIG AMI images and attached EFS Filesystems.
  • Automated security groups and role creation with Terraform through GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implemented Systems Manager for server fleet management, process inspection, and report generation.
  • Developed a script for scanning S3 buckets for Encryption settings, enhancing security measures.

AWS Management & Optimization

Objective: Managed and optimized AWS resources for enhanced performance and security.

Technologies & Tools: EC2, EBS, Cloudtrail, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, VPC, Active Directory, CAPAM, SSSD, SSHD.

Key Achievements:

  • Managed EC2 instances and EBS volumes, including starting, stopping, termination, and backup operations.
  • Utilized Cloudtrail and CloudWatch for user action tracing and issue identification.
  • Analyzed VPC Flow Logs to troubleshoot network connectivity issues.
  • Resolved various service issues including Active Directory, CAPAM, SSSD, and SSHD.

New Projects Team Initiatives

Objective: Developed new AWS-based solutions and tools for internal use.

Technologies & Tools: AWS Lambda, IAM, Security Groups, VPC, DynamoDB, S3, EKS, RHEL 8.

Key Achievements:

  • Developed AWS Lambda functions for generating various reports (Credential, IAM Users, Security Groups, VPC Endpoints).
  • Constructed EKS clusters in multiple environments (Dev, Training, PreProd, Production) with RHEL 8 STIG'd EKS Optimized images.

Company-Wide RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 Migration

Objective: Lead a company-wide initiative to migrate all RHEL 7 servers to RHEL 8 across multiple tenants with varying requirements.

Technologies & Tools: RHEL 7, RHEL 8, Oracle Databases, EKS, Nessus, CrowdStrike, GitLab, Jira, Confluence.

Key Achievements:

  • Tenant Customization: Independently coordinated with four different tenants, provisioning and configuring Test, Training, Dev, PreProd, and Prod servers tailored to their specific needs.
  • Oracle Databases & Applications: Configured servers for optimal performance with Oracle Databases and Applications.
  • EKS Optimization: Transitioned EKS worker nodes from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8 STIG images. Optimized new images for EKS, ensuring seamless integration and function within the clusters.
  • Tools and Services Migration: Managed the migration of various tool servers including Nessus Managers, CrowdStrike, GitLab, Jira, and Confluence, ensuring each service was efficiently transitioned and fully operational.
  • Innovative Data Transfer Solution: For a tenant requiring retention of private IP addresses, devised a strategy to swap root volumes between RHEL 7 and RHEL 8 servers, preserving IP addresses and avoiding over 120 hours of data transfer.
  • Efficiency and Effectiveness: Completed all assigned tenant migrations ahead of schedule, notably finishing the EKS node migration 4 weeks early, demonstrating exceptional project management and problem-solving skills.

Comprehensive SAP Environment for FEMA

Objective: Led the engineering and architectural design for a comprehensive SAP environment for FEMA, encompassing Demo, Test, NonProd, PreProd, and Production stages, each featuring 7-8 distinct SAP products.

Key Areas: Strategic Planning, Infrastructure Deployment, Security and Compliance, Automation and Efficiency, Collaboration and Leadership, Monitoring and Optimization, Documentation and Transition.
